Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Lana Photography (“we”, “us”, “our”) collects, uses, and protects your personal information when you visit lanaphotos.com, contact us, or book a photography session with us. We are a photography business based in Belfast, Northern Ireland, and we handle personal data in accordance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.
Who we are
Lana Photography is a sole-trader photography business operated by Lana Mishchenko, based in Belfast (BT1), Northern Ireland. For any privacy-related questions, you can contact us at hello.lanaphotos@gmail.com.
Information we collect
We collect personal information in the following ways: • Contact and enquiry details you provide through our website contact form or by email/phone — such as your name, email address, and phone number. • Booking details — such as session date, location preferences, and any information you share with us about your shoot. • Photographs taken during your session, and any images or details you share with us to help plan your shoot. • Basic website usage data collected automatically through our website platform (Wix.com), such as pages visited and general analytics, typically via cookies. • Payment-related information (such as deposit confirmation) processed for bookings; we do not store full card details ourselves — payments are handled by our website platform's payment processor.
How we use your information
We use your personal information to: • Respond to enquiries and communicate with you about your session. • Schedule, manage, and deliver your photography session and edited photos via an online gallery. • Process deposits and payments related to bookings. • With your consent, share a small number of session photos on our portfolio, website, and social media (including Pinterest and Instagram) for marketing purposes. • Improve our website and services.
Legal basis for processing
We process your personal data on the following legal bases under UK GDPR: performance of a contract (to deliver the photography services you book), consent (for portfolio/marketing use of your photos, and for non-essential cookies), and legitimate interests (for basic website analytics and business administration).
Photography, portfolio and marketing use
As set out in our Terms of Cooperation, we may use a small number of photos from your session for our portfolio, website, and social media (including Pinterest). If you would prefer your session to remain private, you can request this at booking (a privacy fee applies, as described in our Terms & Conditions). We never share client names alongside portfolio images without explicit permission.
Cookies and website analytics
Our website is built on the Wix.com platform, which may use cookies and similar technologies to operate the site and collect basic, aggregated analytics (such as visits and page views). You can control cookies through your browser settings. We do not use this data to build detailed personal profiles for advertising.
Sharing your information
We do not sell your personal information. We may share limited information with trusted service providers who help us run our business, including: • Wix.com — our website hosting, booking, and payment platform. • Online gallery delivery services used to share your edited photos. • Pinterest, Instagram, and WhatsApp — only where you have consented to portfolio/marketing use, or where you contact us directly through these platforms. We may also disclose information where required by law.
Data retention
Your online photo gallery remains available for 3 months after delivery, in line with our Terms of Cooperation. Enquiry and booking correspondence (such as emails) is generally kept for as long as needed to manage our business relationship and meet legal/accounting requirements, after which it is deleted or anonymised.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR, you have the right to: • Access the personal data we hold about you. • Request correction of inaccurate data. • Request deletion of your data, including removal of portfolio photos featuring you. • Object to or restrict certain processing, including marketing use of your photos. • Request a copy of your data in a portable format. • Lodge a complaint with the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk if you believe your data has been mishandled. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at hello.lanaphotos@gmail.com.
Children's information
We photograph children as part of family sessions booked and supervised by a parent or guardian. By booking a session that includes children, the booking parent/guardian consents to this Privacy Policy and our Terms of Cooperation on the child's behalf.
Data security
We take reasonable steps to protect your personal information, including relying on the security measures provided by our website and gallery-delivery platforms. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
