How to Brief Me for Your Business Photoshoot: Audience and Moodboard

The best business photoshoots start with a clear brief. It doesn't need to be formal or complicated, just enough for me to understand what result you're actually after. Here's how to put one together.

Define your audience

Who are these photos actually for? A luxury, minimal look works for a different customer than a bright, fun, colourful one. A quick note on who you're trying to reach, and how you want them to feel when they see your photos, makes a big difference to how I approach the shoot.

Put together a moodboard

This is the easiest way to show me a style rather than just describe it. A simple Pinterest board, a folder of saved Instagram posts, or even a few screenshots of brands or photos you like all work well. Include a mix of things you love and, if it helps, a couple of examples of what you'd rather avoid.

Make a shot list

  • The specific products, spaces or people that need to be photographed.

  • Where these photos will actually be used, website, Instagram feed, adverts, print, so I can shoot with that end use in mind.

  • Any must have shots you already know you need.

Send all of this over before the day and we'll use it to plan the session properly, rather than figuring it out on the spot. You can find pricing and booking details on the Business & Product Photography page.
