Spring is one of the loveliest times of year for family photos. Everything is fresh and green, the days are getting longer, and after a long winter indoors, it just feels good to get outside together. If you'd like some new family photos but don't fancy a long session, a spring mini session could be the perfect fit.

What is a spring mini session?

A mini session is a short, relaxed shoot, around 30 minutes, with a focus on getting a lovely set of natural family photos without dragging things out. It's quick enough to keep little ones happy and still gives you plenty of photos for your walls, albums or phone backgrounds.

Why spring works so well

The light in spring is soft and gentle, which is really flattering for everyone. Parks and green spaces start to come back to life, with fresh leaves and blossom adding colour without needing any props. The weather can be a bit unpredictable here, so I always keep an eye on the forecast and we can chat about moving the date if it's looking really grim.

A few tips to get the most from it

Keep outfits light and simple. Soft colours like cream, pale blue, sage green or blush look great against spring backgrounds. Bring a light jacket or cardigan just in case, as it can still be chilly, especially later in the day.

Plan around your kids. If your little ones nap after lunch, pick a time when they're usually at their happiest. A snack and a favourite toy in your bag can also work wonders.

Don't worry about everyone being perfect. Some of the best photos come from the in between moments, like a giggle, a hug or a little one running off across the grass.

Book early

Spring slots tend to go quickly, especially around blossom season and the Easter holidays, so it's worth planning ahead. If you'd like to grab a spot for your family, you can check available dates and book on my Book Online page. I'd love to see you out in the spring sunshine.
